Get your hopes up

" Get your hopes up and be ready for the next shot!"
The voice of Phill Magner, teacher of calculus at Johansen High School, always bursts with enthusiasm as he picks up the ballpoint pen and starts giving an explanation of how two integral equations can be solved in a various ways. Calculus, Blackjack trick, unique view of controversial issues, possibility of travel through time - there seems to be no end to Magner's examples of how mathematics affects his ability to think differently than others do. As a matter of fact, the last three years of attending his lectures gave me a great deal of information, but I still know very little about his personality. Even though I might have a slight acquaintance with Mr. Magner, I believe it is worth unfolding his uniqueness by organizing my thoughts about him and putting them into words.

Magner, who came to Johansen High School twelve years ago, has made a career after obtaining bachelor's degree in mathematics at Michigan State University. It suggests that he always likes to be called a mathematician rather than a teacher.
Mathematicians like to reason out theories in a scientific manner. Despite o
