Persuasive

             As a minor walks up to the ticket booth, he asks for a ticket for the 7:00 showing for a rated R movie. "Can I see some I.D. please," asks the person in the ticket booth. The minor says I don't have one, but my parents allow me to watch R movies. The theater employee says no, and that the kid needs I.D, to prove that he is over 17 years old. Everyday or weekend this happens to kids as they go to see the new movie that is rated R. They can't get in because they are not 17 or older. Is it a theaters duty to tell what somebody can and cannot watch?
             A parent's job is to do what is best for their kids. Then why can't a kid go see a movie without their parents, even if the kid's parents permit them to see a rated R movie? If a kid gets scared in a movie it is the parents own fault for letting their kid see the movie. It is not the theaters fault for letting the kid into the movie.
             If the theater gets a parent to sign a waver that agree to let their kid in to an R rated movie. All the kid would have to do is show some school I.D., and then the theater employees have to look up if they are cleared to see a rated R movie. I think this would make the theater more money because many more kids will come to see movies at their theater. Many kids would be happier and the theater would not have to worry about the kids in the movies.
             Kids will almost always find a way to get into a movie, either by buying a ticket for a Pg-13 movie, and then sneaking into the R movie. Or they could ask someone over 17 to buy them a ticket and walk in with them. Even though people will think of very cleaver ideas on how to keep kids from sneaking in, kids will always find a way to get in. By letting kids see the movie with a parent's permission the theaters won't have to think of ideas to keep kids from sneaking in.
