After Gates' parents discovered this they debated on whether or not to send him to a private school, where class sizes would be smaller and teachers would provide more discipline. They wanted him to exercise better study habits so that he would be prepared for collage and a career.
             His parents realized that he needed something more challenging, so they decided to enroll him in Lakeside, a private school known for its intense academic environment. Lakeside is an all boy's school for students in grades seven through twelve. Their students wore uniforms, carried briefcases, and had assigned seating. Early at Lakeside Gates still did not work hard but he managed to earn a B average. Later he surpassed all of his peer's abilities in nearly all subjects, especially science and math. The decision by his parents would be the beginning to Bills' prosperous life, for Lakeside was where he was first introduced to computers. In the seventh grade he met his soon to be best friend and business partner for life, Paul Allen. At the age of 13 in the eighth grade, Gates was first introduced to computers and programming languages. That year Lakeside had bought a Teletype machine and computer time.
