Hunting always sounded pretty fun to me. My boyfriend, Greg always had these great hunting stories to tell people, and I wanted a story of my own to tell.
I was so excited that warm day in October, riding in the car to the place Greg and I would be hunting. I was all suited up in my camouflage and I was ready to kill me a big ol' deer! Well, mom dropped me and Greg off to the spot I was going to kill my humongous deer, and we began to walk. Well, we walked and walked through this big, hilly field and I didn't feel so tough anymore, I was so out of breath I could barley take another step! I was ready to pass our!
When we came to the edge of the woods we looked around for the "perfect" place to sit and wait for that giant deer. Well, we sat under a tree–wouldn't you know it? We sat, and sat, and sat for about...well what seemed like forever. Every time a leaf fell to the grounf my heart would skip a beat, thinking for a split second it could be that big deer I just knew I was gonna hang on the wall back home.
As the sun began to sink in the east, my heart began to sink, because I knew we were running out of dayligt and I might have to return home without my trophy. Just as I was just about to give up, I heard leaves crunching behind me. The crunching grew nearer and nearer, as my heart beat got faster and faster. When Greg told me to get the gun ready I was sure that I was gonna see my deer.
Damn! I didn't see a big deer, I saw two big ol' raccoons starting at us and cocking their heads back and forth trying to figure out what we were. I was furious at those dag'gon raccoons. I wanted to kill those darned coons, but Greg wouldn't let me, he said to wait because that was the time the deer usually came out into the fields.
