As outlined in the first reading for this week, Jane Stokes offers three broad areas in which the object of analysis of cultural studies can be divided into. These are texts, industries and audiences. Stokes says that within each of these three areas large range methods can be used theoretically but practically each of these three areas has a different set of methods associated with it. In the reading Stoke also stresses the importance of the relationship between the object of analysis and the method being used. Stoke states that "a valid piece of work should demonstrate the relationship between the object of analysis and the method. The researcher should show that the choice of the method was the correct one to make the desired point
