The organizational processes problems are arising when hospital policies are not followed. The hospital has very clear policies, however since there is no organization it is allowing the staff to make decisions that are already made through policy. These policies are not and should not be open to interpretation and they should be followed to the letter.
The lack of communication is playing a role in this problem as well. Well-structured communication would essentially end any misunderstandings that the entire hospital has.
Ethics is playing its role in the problems simply because no one person can change the way another person's belief system is structured. Because of this, there will always be ethical issues that will need to be addressed.
When taking a closer look at the problems that are occurring at Faith Community Hospital I believe that the issues surrounding the organizational processes include that fact that hospital pharmacists are filling uninsured prescriptions by accepting payments in installments. In addition we have two counselors that are treating some of their patients pro bono.
As far as the ethical issues are concerned, we have patients that are refusing medical treatments and staff who are refusing to provide certain services. We even have doctors that have various interpretations of the Hippocratic oath based on ethical reasons.
When it comes to communication we have a wide variety of symptoms that are causing this problem. We have staff members that are initiating Do Not Resuscitate directives when they are in place as well as staff that are not initiating them even when they are.
