A brother to the Truman Doctrine was the Marshall plan which was also a plan to stop the spread of communism. Instead of sending military aid, the Marshall Plan stated that the United States would help with economic aid which America would send as money to these countries. At the end of World War II the United States uncovered one of their greatest advancements. This was the atomic bomb that they dropped twice on Japan to cause their surrender to the war. Years later the Soviet Union learned how to create the atomic bomb themselves causing a panic to the U.S. and a threat of attack. The Soviet Union did not have plans to bomb America but the panic only increased the competition between these two countries.
