This exemplifies Carnegie's belief in hard work to achieve success and this belief still holds true today in American society.
             An excellent example of the hardworking American is seen in Ron Suskind's A Hope In The Unseen. Cedric is a black teenager from a poor family in Washington, DC. His father is in jail and provides no real parental guidance. Cedric spends his time studying before and after school with his teachers trying to set himself up for success. Ultimately, Cedric's hard work and dedication brings him many academic awards in school.
             During his junior year Cedric decides that he is going to apply to a summer program at MIT, and he works hard to prove him worthy of acceptance. He later applies to many Ivy League schools. After a lot of hard work, he is accepted into Brown University.
