Russia and its former allies were also in constant anxiety of the Soviet's threat of a free capitalist society. While the Soviets were in control of the Eastern part and the Western part was free, Germany was filled with chaos and disorder. The Soviet Union and its steady drive to spread communism throughout Europe influenced the development of the European nations after the war.
             In Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union formed many satellite nations. The Soviets formed Cominform, the Communist Information Bureau; their counter to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization which was formed by former allies in World War II in 1949.
