             Buck is the pet of Judge Miller. He lives in the estate of the judge in the Santa Clara Valley. One day the once night had fallen Manuel the gardener beset by heavy gambling debts kidnapped Buck and brought him to the train station where a man was waiting for him the man took Buck and gave Manuel some money. When the rope around Buck's neck was given to the man Buck growled softly, the man took no notice to the warning and quickly gave the rope a slight twist Buck suddenly found his breath cut off. Now angry, he tried to spring at the stranger. The man met him halfway, grabbed him by the collar and flipped him on his back. Buck struggled but felt his strength ebbing when his breath was cut off. Then he slumped down on the station platform unconscious. When he woke up he was in a cage and the man was still holding the rope. At bucks first move against the man the man tightened the rope and he fell unconscious again. When he woke up he was being carried by four men to a building inside were hundreds of other dogs. A man the others called Morgan told them to set Buck loose, they warned him about Buck but he reassured them the club in his hand will help him more than enough. When Buck was set free he attacked Morgan but Morgan easily dodged him and hit him with the club this continued until Buck fell unconscious. The Buck learned a man with a club is a force to reckon with. He stayed in the cage for weeks slowly regaining his strength but he never attacked Morgan again. While he regained his strength he saw dogs arrive daily while some dogs left when men arrived talked with Morgan pointed to some of the dogs and gave him some money. Nobody chose him because he looked weak but when his strength returned and he looked as regal as before a man arrived and choose him and Curly a good natured Newfoundland dog.
