I. Isaiah 6:9-10 in Matthew 13:14-15
This is the second quotation of Isaiah that Matthew has used in book. The prophecy that Isaiah makes in the 6 chapters through the 9-10 verses is direct to Yahweh people. Beginning in the 9th through 10 verse Yahweh tells Isaiah to say this to the people" Keep listening, But do not comprehend; Keep looking, but do not understand." This passage is discussing how Yahweh is telling them they are hearing, but never perceiving. Why is this happening? The reason is their hearts and minds are dulled in god eyes. They have lack of fear of God and more fear of men. God want their hearts fat, so that it beats in the old way. The people was seeing with their eyes and hearing with ears. When you take this away they have to believe with their hearts and think with their minds. In Matthew 13 chapter through 14-15 the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled and with this Jesus begin to use parables to explain Bible. Jesus speaks in parables to assure his competitors in their rebellion just as Isaiah had been sent to prophesy to increase his generation thickened heartedness. In Isaiah 6 chapter 11-13 verses he asks God, "For how long O Lord?" God's answer is until there is utter desolation of the land. Even then a tenth remains, only to be laid waste again But the chapter ends with a message of hope: "But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land". This might suggest in 9-13 that the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy occurs over a extend period of time-beginning with the judgment that will fall his generation until such time as a righteous people once again populate the land. Some scholar feel like the rejection of Messiah as part of the ongoing fulfillment of Isaiah's prophesy. Some scholars wonder does Matthew recognize this when he uses in the 13 chapter 14 v...
