             I chose to do my assignment on censorship and how it affects people's lives. I chose this subject thinking that being it was such a controversial subject that there would be a huge amount of information on it, which there was. I thought this would also be a very interesting subject to research being that there are so many different views on this subject.
             I thought that a dictionary definition of what censorship was would be good. It is censorship is the act of attempting to control what people say, hear, see or do.
             The biggest part of the information that I got, maybe even seventy to eighty percent came from the internet. The rest of the information came from reading books in the library.
             I sent a few emails to different people and organizations the first email that I sent was to the AUSTRALIAN BROADCASTING AUTHORITY, but they never replied to me and still haven't done so. The second organization that I mailed was an organization called PEACEFIRE. Who also did not reply. Then the third person to be emailed was the editor of the west Australian who hasn't reply at this point in time.
             The act of censorship is quite different to that of what I first thought.
             I originally thought that censorship was just taking out the nude scene out of a movie so that it could be rated as a G rated movie. But this is a very narrow minded version of the act of censoring something. Censorship is the whole act of changing something that is unacceptable in one persons view, and changing it in some way that makes it acceptable.
             Some interesting facts that I read in a book called "nattering on the net" on page 218 says that it is not illegal to see things but it can be illegal to have or get them.
             Another interesting fact is that there are over 200 web pages created each day which is simply too many for people to check and censor. Also any censoring goes against the laws of free speech.
