Malreaux

Andre Malraux creatively combines his personal beliefs and experiences, history, and imaginative characters to inscribe Man's Fate. He adds his own elements to enhance the historical setting of this novel with a personal touch to give the reader an ability to relate to the characters and the choices that they make. This work of fiction is skillfully written to give convincing historical impressions. He incorporates dates and times into the scenes to give the reader more of a sense of authenticity. Malraux fuses two styles, lyricism and terse prose to effectively illustrate his writing talent. He models this style on Celine and the American writers of the 1920s whom he admired (Fletcher 1). Malraux addresses the limitations of action without compromise. He maintains that one must be prepared to accept certain conditions that are sometimes tragic consequences for actions (Allan 61-73). Man's Fate is a novel, which many critics justify its title as getting to the root of the contributing factors of the human condition. Through this book, it appears that Malraux has a fixation on death as the ultimate exit from the human condition. This novel jumps straight into the confusion and melee of the time period. Philosophically and morally Malraux's position is deeply self-contradictory and his work includes strange combinations of conflicting perspectives.
There is a constant tension in the narrative between the reality of the historical world and Malraux's desolate analysis of fate. He attempts to bring his perspective of the irrationality of a human existence that lacks order and significance to the reader.
Malraux was French. His mother and grandmother raised him after his parents divorced. He identified with the working class and had compassion for them. He feels the need to commiserate with the peasants and workers as an effort to triumph over the shortcomings
