From a very early age, I have always strived to be a good writer. I continually attempt to outdo my previous papers. I have never known why I like to write or even what to write. However, I have always loved to write. Mostly, I just like to write for the sheer enjoyment of it. Every time I read a comical piece of literature, I think to myself, "I wish that I could write as clever as that." I have always enjoyed literature that makes me feel good about myself and makes me smile. The writer who has had the most influence on me throughout my childhood: Shel Silverstein. He wrote many amusing poems that I can still recall. My most cherished poem of his is called "Snowball":
             I thought I'd keep it as a pet
             If I could say the things on my mind and the feelings in my heart as simply as Shel Silverstein does, then I think that my writing would reflect me more than it does now. His writing inspires me and every time I read another one of his poems, it truly makes me think, I could write something like that if I try hard enough.
             There are also many other reasons why I choose to write. I write because I want to hear me, and know my writing. I want to get my voice out there and I want my emotions known by others. Writing has always been an outlet for my emotions. As a writer my writings have always contained a wide spectrum from serious to humorous to whatever type of mood I might be in. No matter the things going on in my life, I can always write about it. In some small way writing has given me a sense of peace, a sense of hope, and a feeling of completion.
