             Culture is the knowledge languages values and material objects that characterize a society
             Encompasses both tangible and non tangible things
             Non-tangible culture- ideals thoughts values
             Tangible- buildings, inventions, writings
             1 culture is shared (each individual knows the basis of their culture)
             2 Culture is learned. (through society)
             3 culture is taken for granted ( we know what is expected of us)
             4 culture is symbolic (we give certain symbols to our culture, where in other cultures it is the norm)
             5 culture varies across time and place. (cultural relativism, A societies culture is relative to its time and place)
             1 language- a group of symbols that represent ideas that allow others to relate ideas.
             2 norms- culturally defined standards for conduct, rules of expectation
             Folkway-everyday custom and you can violate them with out much reprecution. (walking on sideway typically walk on the right side of the sidewalk)
             Mores-strongly held norms strict rules that guide everyday if violated serious repricutions. ( if you violate a person you get locked the fuck up)
             3 beliefs- provide a meanning system around which culture is organized.
             4 values- are colective ideas about what is right and wrong good and bad in society.
             Cultural diversity refers to the wide range of cultural differences found within nations
             Vast number of people adhear to. Most support from public of a nation. Culture that most people are judged by.
             A group of people who share a lot with the dominant but, they are different some how. While co-existing with the dominate
             Counter culture rejacts the dominate culture such strong resistance that is rejects the dominant culture.
