The production of animal protein has dramatically changed during the last twenty years. Traditional farming methods were based on the natural biological cycles of the animals. The cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, rabbits and hogs were always free to roam around the farms' land, eat the grass, nest on the soil, mate at their pace and on their season and grow at their own natural speed under rays of the sun and the clean air from open fields. The manure these animals produced was quite valuable to the farmer and used to fertilize the soil where crops were being farmed. Traditional farming also used antibiotics only when one element of the heard was in direct need for them and the veterinarian treated such disease under his strict supervision. These were the good times when we were able to enjoy a steak free of hormones and antibiotic resistant bacteria. Modern factory farming of animal protein generates unhealthy condition where infections outbreak and they are currently contained by adding antibiotics to their feed, practice that could potentially develop an epidemic from mutated bacteria among the consumer of animal products and general public.
             Animal protein production in the United States has changed dramatically over the last twenty years. Factory farming corporations have replaced traditional farming with systematic mass production and literally taken family owned farms and traditional farming out the picture. Many of today's farms are actually industrial facilities that resemble factories and are formally called confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs) or intensive livestock operations (ILOs). Their primary goal is to maximize profits by raising thousands of animals in the smallest possible time with minimal regard for the consumer's health, the safety and quality of food, care for the environment, civilized treatment of the animals and their biological cycles, complete disregard for smaller farmers, and the list goes...
