Market Forces

             Markets are establishments which bring together buyers and sellers of particular goods, services, or resources. Market forces are the factors which affect the prices these goods, services, or resources. Major market forces are Supply, Demand, and of course the Government.
             Supply is the amount of a product that producers are willing and able to make available for sale at each of a series of possible prices during a specific period. The Law of Supply states that as the price of a product rises, so does the supplied quantity and as the price falls, the supplied quantity also falls. The supplied quantity of a product is dependent on the following:
             The price of resources used to create a product help determine the cost of production. Taxes and tariffs are taken into account as part of the cost of production. The price of resources is inversely proportional to the quantity supplied. Improvements in technology allow firms to product units of output with fewer resources. Advances in technology help increase the supplied quantity of a product. Changes in expectations of the future cost of a product may affect the producer's current willingness to supply that product. If the price of a product is expected to rise, a firm may stockpile of produce more of a certain product, thus increasing the supply at a later date. The number of sellers of a product also helps determine the quantity supplied. As the number of firms in a certain industry increases the market supply also increases. These factors can either increase of decrease the amount of goods supplied, thus affecting the price of these goods.
