How to Promote Cultural Literacy in America
             Cultural Literacy is nothing new, and has been a subject of concern for many years. Many doctors and professors have come up with different methods to try to stop the declining literacy in our society. Cultural literacy hinders our nation as whole and our economy by giving money to citizens that cannot go out and support themselves due to a lack of education. These citizens learn to depend on this money and have no determination to go out and get an education so they can get a job. Our country needs to implement educational programs so our society can improve and ultimately abolish our lack of literacy in America. Our culture has a decline of literacy due to our educational system and our parent's lack of involvement in education because of the way our teachers present the material and our parent's interaction towards our youth's education at home. Without putting into practice these methods, our nation will sink only deeper into cultural decline.

Parker, talks about using the newspaper as an instrument in fighting cultural literacy. " Teaching for Cultural Literacy" by David J. Flinders, gives us a method for grading our education in the school systems so we can better our teaching methods to eventually bring to an end to cultural literacy.
