In the essay entitled "Are Men's Fingers Faster?" author Edward Cohn asks the question of what gives males the upper hand in game show quizzes.
             Cohn introduces his essay by quoting Regis Philbin, the host of the popular TV game show "Who wants to be a Millionaire" by asking, "Why is it that all of our contestants are white men?" This question provokes the reader to also wonder why that is. This introduction effectively draws the reader in, using the example of this game show as a strong piece of support for the remainder of the essay.
             The concept of racing 10 other contestants to answer a "fastest finger" question as quickly as possible to get on the show and having a higher success rate in males certainly raises the question of whether or not men's fingers are
             Cohn takes this question and carefully researches every possible cause for this phenomenon. The fact that he produces such a substantial amount of evidence to support his essay really makes it easier to understand for the audience.
             In paragraph seven Cohn writes: "TV shows are more a test of finger reflexes then a real test of knowledge, and many people suspect that men are better then women at delivering rapid-fire responses to trivia questions." This statement almost claims that men's success in TV Quiz shows does not stem from actual knowledge, I disagree. To have the ability to succeed in a TV Quiz Show in my opinion, takes a great deal of knowledge to be able to answer the questions to begin with.
             Another positive attribute to Cohn's essay was his unbiased coverage of all aspects of the subject. He is careful to include many theories on why men may be faster opposed to just one main hypothesis. Some of these ideas included: possible gender bias, instinctual behavior and more determination coming from males.
