             In Stephen Jay Gould essay the "The Terrifying Normalcy of AIDS" informs the reader about a deadly disease killing humankind. We the humans are at a time where we should not ignore AIDS. AIDS is at threat to humans today. So far there is no cure to this deadly disease. A question, which comes to are mind "Is there hope for cure?" Gould focuses more on spreading of AIDS and how informed are people about AIDS. People need to take responsibility when some diseases are spreading in are community. AIDS is one of the biggest factors for living longer and healthier lives.
             First of all, technology has a great influence on are society. Gould writes, "With the help of modern technology, we feel there's really no limit to what can be accomplished." (Stephen 594) It is true that with technology we can make impossible to possible. AIDS are greatest danger of our era. AIDS has taken many lives throughout the world. Many people are uniformed about this disease and the spread. Stephen Jay Gould explains the reader that mind and technology have been useless in front of this mysterious disease of AIDS. John Platt wrote "At a time when most of us were either ignoring AIDS." (Stephen 594) Ignoring AIDS is basically spreading AIDS. It is true that we can spread AIDS in many different ways. The number of people affected by this disease doubles up. People should take precaution about AIDS and avoid being infected.
             "AIDS has probably already saturated the African areas where it probably originated, and where the sex ratio of afflicted people is 1-to-1, male- female.
