James Dean was the first androgynous man that Amy Gross could really communicate with. All of the men that she could talk with have not been your average man. They have not been wrapped up in the sports and the manly things. She was looking more for the man who was more vulnerable and responsive. These men are called androgynous, which means they have both male and female characteristics.
             The all-man man will never do any of the chores that are typically done by the women of the household. Unless it is to purchase some beer and pretzels. The all-men men have little or no taste in food, art, books, movies, or any type of conversation. She once had supper with and all-man man who was attractive but had no manners. At the dinner table he would just raise his glass up to indicate to her that he needed it refilled. However no androgynous man would expect this without a please.
             The androgynous man and the all-man man have two very different egos. All-men men have this certain male ego to them that thinks its sissy to do anything feminine. However the androgynous man is comfortable with feminine and masculine events. She found that it was hard to talk with the all-man man because nothing the man says will interest her. Amy believes that the most masculine men will end up with the most feminine women. There are many differences between all-men men and the androgynous man.
             First the all-man man is not a star in the creativity department. Then they also aren't the most sensitive if your looking for comfort from them your wasting your time. Sandra Lipsetz Bem is quoted saying "High masculinity in males is consistently correlated with lower overall intelligence and lower creativity." Also Donald W. Mackinnon found that " creative males give more expression to the feminine side of their nature that do less creative men."
