             Road tripping to a distant place can often be a lot of struggle and stress for a little bit of fun. A vacation is defined as a period of time devoted to pleasure, rest, or relaxation. Well who says that vacations are supposed to be all fun and no pain? As they say, no pain, no gain. Well I gained a lot from traveling from Manistee, Michigan to Virginia Beach, Virginia and back on my spring break of my senior year in April of 2004.
             My best friend and I packed up some clothes, toiletries, and lots of food before we jumped into my 1993 Dodge Shadow with about fifty dollars worth of duct tape holding the convertible top together and 5 quarts of oil stuffed in the back seat to keep the car chugging. By the time we had all our stuff packed up and we were all ready to go it was about 11 pm. We were already a little tired and knew that we had about a nineteen hour trip ahead of us but the thought of all the fun we were going to have kind of covered the drowsiness up.
             After we were on the road for about two ours the excited talk of what lie ahead about 950 miles had already died down so we turned on the radio and just listened for the two more hours that it took us to get to Ohio. By that time it was already about 3 in the morning and we were both pretty tired so the caffeine pills were being popped out of there plastic and foil containers and then being thrown into our mouths with the least of enthusiasm.
             We looked on the map to see what road we had to get on next and seen that it was I-80. I-80 runs through Ohio from west to east the whole length of the state. At that time, this was good news to us because it seemed like that is what we wanted. The less number of roads, the less confusing it was going to be. It was actually the last thing we wanted. The road had the same scenery throughout the whole state; two lanes with a breakdown lane towards the center dividers and trees on both sides for miles on end. Four hours on a road like...
