Should we keep soldiers in Iraq, or should we bring them home?
At first I thought war was the right thing to do, but then I thought about it for awhile and I couldn't decide anymore whether it was right or wrong. This is a very important subject to think about because the war on terror and Iraq could change the lives of many people. If nothing is done to help the American troops in Iraq there will be many more unnecessary casualties.
If we keep troops in Iraq we won't have to fight on American soil. That way we could keep the enemy away from our families. Keeping troops in Iraq will also help civilians in the United States stay safe from ground combat with the enemies. Another positive note to think about is that if our soldiers leave Iraq, it could once again go back to the terrible way it once was.
Although those were good reasons for keeping troops in Iraq, there are also some cons for keeping them there. Everyday we lost soldiers in Iraq to unnecessary suicide bombings and riots. Every month the number of US casualties in Iraq increases. Another drawback to keeping out soldiers in Iraq is the criticism of other countries who think that Iraq is not the center of the war on terror.
However, there is another viewpoint, what if we kept our soldiers in the US? We would save many casualties that could have been lost having the soldiers in Iraq. The prices of o il, gasoline, and other supplies demand will go down without a war brewing overseas. Also, more families would stay together without brothers, sons, and fathers being shipped off or drafted to the war efforts.
There are reasons that keeping the soldiers here in America could also be dangerous to our country. For instance, instead of them worrying about us attacking their homes and businesses, we would have to worry about the safety of our country. There could be another 9/11/ in store for us if we let our guard down in the war.
