Segregation is a topic that will never die. When most people hear the word segregation they automatically think of the way African Americans were treated after slavery. But segregation not only exists in America but all over the world. Many Africans in South Africa were treated harshly and denied many privileges that whites had, such as a better education, employment, certain shops, etc.
             Racism is the belief that human beings can be divided into races and that members of some races are inferior to members of other races. People that believe in racism are called racist. They believe that their own race are mentally, physically, morally, or culturally superior to other races. Racism in most countries have been directed mainly by the majority population group against ethnic minority groups these minorities have faced discrimination in such areas as housing, education, employment, and transportation. Segregation is the separation of groups or by land it is often based on differences or races, religion, wealth, or culture. Segregation almost always involves some kind of discrimination by one group against another.
             Apartheid which means separateness in Afrikaans (one of South Africans official languages) was from 1948 until 1991. The South Africans by race either 1.Black 2.White 3.Coloured (mixed race) or 4.Asian Apartheid required segregation in housing, education, employment, public accommodations, and transportation. It segregated almost all whites but also many nonwhite groups from each other .It also limited the rights of non-whites to own and occupy land.
             The South Africa government tried to justify apartheid by claiming that peaceful coexistence of the race was possible only if the races were separated from one another.
