             Several witnesses on November 22, 1963 also indicated that the shots fired came from the right and front. An hour before the parade, Julia Ann Mercer witnessed a man running up to the grassy knoll with a rifle. Julia informed Dallas police officers of what she saw, but no action was taken. The day after, Julia made another attempt to tell what she had witnessed to the FBI. She identified Jack Ruby as the man she saw getting into a truck near the grassy knoll. (Garrison, On the Trial of the Assassins, 218) William Newman and his wife were standing in front of the Knoll during the parade and recalled that the limo was in front of them when Kennedy was shot.
