             Today's rapid changes have made countries around the world more mutually dependent than ever before. Human kind has entered a brand new relationship with the earth. As the world continues to grow smaller, (shrinking into a global village if you will) events in anyone area will have even a significantly greater impact on other parts of the world. The constant, increasing pressures we are making use of everyday threaten our planets ability to sustain life itself. Change in the way we think and in the way we live is needed now more than ever.
             Global warming is the most pressing environmental problem the world is facing today. Few people, if any, don't seem to realize it is very important to us all that we fully understand the complex relationship between the atmosphere and the earth (Carlise, 1998). As temperatures are continuing to rise, glaciers are melting. This consequently is the main cause for the rise in the sea levels. For starters, coastlines are slowing eroding away, costal cities are being flooded, and people are having to move inland. Just a one foot rise in seal level can cause shorelines to recede a hundred feet, and in flat terrain, a thousand feet. If ocean water rise several feet, whole beaches could be washed away. Many homes, hotels and other buildings, as well as entire cities will be threatened. Salt water can pollute freshwater wells that millions of people use for drinking water. Coastal marshes and other ocean life will be endangered. These are just a few of the many reasons to start changing the way we will so future generations can meet their own needs. Global warming will affect weather everywhere, plants, animals and people throughout the world.
