Music Censorship

As a parent there are a few groups I would not let my child listen to until they were mature enough that the music would not have an effect on their everyday life. A group that has explicit lyrics dealing with drugs, sex, and violence is probably not the best music for my young child to be listening to at such an impressionable age. I would surely hope that though even if they were to get their ears on some negative style music that it would not effect any serious life decisions or interfere with their everyday life. One artist whom I would not like my child listening to before high school is a rapper named 50 Cent. On his album "Get Rich or Die Tryin" he glamorizes the act of selling drugs and drive by shootings. Put to a very catchy beat he is able to rap these lyrics and spit them out in a way that it seems glamorous and the right thing to do. With lyrics like "if there's beef cock it and dump it the drama really means nothing to me I'll ride by and blow your brains out" as a chorus to a song called "Heat" I don't think that is the best thing for my young child to be listening to especially in a day and age where guns are extremely accessible and there is enough teen crime as it is. As far as artists go that my child at a young age would be listening to 50 Cent and any other gangster rapper that raps like him are about the only types of artists I would discourage my child from listening to, anything else where there is sex or just weird ideas he is going to think about and talk about with his friends anyhow. Gangster rap is probably the only type of music I would like to keep out of my young child's ears seeing as though the acts of violence are foreign to him yet they sound so "cool."
For parents to have a better idea of which concerts are okay for their children to see and which ones are not ratings could be incorpora
