             The meaning of a word used in one country often has a different meaning in another country. For example, the word "homely" means plain in the U.S., while in England it means friendly, warm, and comfortable. Language problems are compounded when conducting business in non-English-speaking countries. Brand names for U.S. products have caused problems when translated into another language. Ford Motor Company's Fiera truck means ugly old woman in Spanish. Another Spanish translation problem was with the General Motors' Nova automobile, because in Spanish Nova means "doesn't go".
