e of absence for health reasons (Ingram 46). He returned to active duty in early 1779, but his health continued to worsen. So in march 1779, Burr resigned from active duty (Ingram 47).
             Burr stayed in New York for a little more than a year, carrying messages between camps of colonial soldiers (Ingram 49). In late 1780, Burr met Theodosia Prevost, widow of a colonel in the British army. Burr was very attracted to her charm and intelligence, but was wary because she was 10 years older than he, and had five children with a British Colonel. In an attempt to forget Theodosia, Burr returned to Litchfield, to continue his law studies. During his studies over the next couple of years, Burr had suffered through several deep depressions that would keep him bedridden for weeks at a time. He finally took the bar examination in Albany, and was admitted to practice in April 1782. He then opened a law office in Albany New York. (Ingram 50)
