Major steps in changing a tire are (1) Raising the vehicle on a jack, (2) Removing the old tire, (3) Placing the new tire, (4) Lowering the vehicle.
• To safely remove the tire, the car must be jacked up. Caution: the placement of the jack is extremely important, the misplacement or improper use of the jack can cause injuries.
1. Take the jack (figure 1) and place it underneath the vehicle, before exact placement, check underneath for the reinforcement beam closest to the flat tire.
2. After proper placement it is time to raise the vehicle, the jack should have a rod, when turned raises and lower the jack. Locate it.
Warning: before raising the jack, make sure the vehicle is in park with the hand brakes on and the vehicle is on a flat road to perform the task safely.
3. Turn the rod clockwise to raise the jack. (Counter-clockwise to lower it)
