symbolism. From the pillars to the beautiful stained glass windows everything had numbers on
them, but the numbers had meanings to them. The Middle Ages started around 475 C.E. and
lasted up until about 1400 C.E. By the Middle Ages numbers had there own superstitious powers
over people. Christianity and Judaism required extensive symbolism so geometry and all of its
aspects became part of nearly every piece of cathedral designs. The people in the Middle Ages
were crazy about numbers and geometry because many of the symbols used originated from math
as a result of them thinking math was a perfect concept. One was the the number from which all
other numbers originated. It was considered essential and indivisible. Two was the first feminine
number and represented a line. It was the number of duality and diversity. Duality was
considered a problem by some so Trinity was created. A triangle was even used as a halo for God
the Father and only God the Father. The Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse and the four

used a lot in the Middle Ages. The four humours are phlegmatic who had no emotions and was
very calm, sanguine who was gentle and cheerful, choleric who was irritable and was short fused,
