As a science fiction, Gattaca presents us a view of our "not too distance future", besides the technology advances in all common scientific film, it has also inspired an ethical dilemma that we are facing nowadays-Genetic Engineering .it has a huge impact on our society structure and the relationships between each other. In an era that almost everything is determined by our own genetic structure we are facing a cool, stiff, indifferent community, which seems powerless for anybody to have anything changed. However, Vincent is an exception, whom Gattaca portrays as a tough, determined and dream-driven hero.
             "It's simply the best of you", says the genetic scientist to Vincent's parents when he is designing their second child-Anton. Everything seems to be fixed at that moment, his potential has already been maximized according to his genetic identification, he could neither exceed his parent's best, nor could his abilities be weaker than Vincent's. It is reflected later in the story that he obtains a position as policeman, but never has it improved since then.
             The film is also inspiring a key element of spirit--effort. Vincent was conceived naturally that his father thinks he is worthless of his name, he is forsaken by the family and the society, "no matter how hard [he] study, the highest score in the world needs a blood test to go with it", said Vincent painfully.
             The film has illustrated a negative society in the future that discrimination and dictatorship dominates our lives, but a hero with a courageous successful story is also portrayed in the film, Vincent, a tough guy conceived naturally, has shown a strong will towards his own goal.
