NZ Wine industry

the early eighties and the formation of export marketing plans helped the industry increase its exports to over one million litres in 19863, and switch the largest market, to the UK, which still remains our largest market, from Australia in 1984. The second half of the eighties saw a rapid rise in the number of vineyards and production soared, reaching five million litres and twenty five million dollars by 19913.
             There are currently four Wine Industry organisations that cooperate to assist growers in exporting, production and research & development.
             1. Wine Growers of New Zealand (WGNZ)
             • Umbrella organisation for New Zealand grape and wine industry.
             • Supports industry research from funds obtained from NZWI and NGGGC
             2. New Zealand Wine Institute (NZWI)
             • National organisation for New Zealand Wineries
             • Supported by levy on wine produced
             3. New Zealand Grape Growers Council (NZGCC)
