Long live..!

„In general people are living longer now. Why? Use specific reasons to support your essay."
Before I start to explain why people are living longer now, we must solve one problem included in the topic. If we read "longer" we think "longer then what" or "longer than when" in this case. I'm sure that the author of this subject meant times of the Middle Ages or even ancient times, when people were really living shorter, even of tens years. Lets check the reasons of the state of affairs.
One must admit that medicine developed enormously through those years. Although the scientists are still looking for the drug for AIDS, we already know the medicines for diseases that hundred years before killed people very easy. I think it's a consequence of general progress of the mankind in every sphere of its activity. The extention of human living is obviously one of the greatest achievement of the Man, that's out of discuss. On the other hand people dream to live forever just because they don't know what is happening after death. Maybe it's much better? Wouldn't be a great subject for essay?
The aspect of a hygiene in a daily life. It's obviously connected with health and leads us to illnesses. We can't be surprised – in those times people weren't used to have running water in every house.
Conditions of living also aren't meaningless. The materials which were used for building houses weren't good enough as they are nowadays. Moreover, most medicines were prepared from natural plants. Some of them were obviously effective, but sicknesses were the same as they are today. There's also different mode of life today, more healthy and safe. The terms of working are much more friendly and safe. At the end, people live longer now, because it's impossible to suffer at the stake for being a witch.
