             "2004" Presidential Debate
             This year's election is running very close. It's probably the closest running election we have seen in a long time. We all know that there is a possibility there could be a transition of power taking place. Therefore watching the three debates allow us to make a decision on who we need as our President. Voting is one thing that we have a control over and we sure don't want a President that will make many mistakes. Both President Bush and Senator Kerry have great ideas, but we can only have one President.
             The first debate, took place on September 30, 2004 in Miami Florida, focused mainly on the war in Iraq. Bush looked very tired on this first debate. Kerry looked well rested and ready to go. I noticed that Bush and Kerry both at some point in the debate didn't answer some of the questions that they were asked. I didn't like the approach that Kerry took throughout this debate, he was always cutting the President down for the way he handled the terrorist attacks on 9/11. Kerry said that he could prevent another attack from happening by leading the world and the alliances. Bush did what he thought was best at the time, whether it was right or wrong. How can you prevent a tragedy like 9/11 if you don't know it's going to happen?
             On the topic of War in Iraq, Bush authorized war to oust Saddam Hussein regime. Kerry supported the war and later said Bush misled the nation. In Iraqi reconstruction, Bush initially opposed U.N. involvement, now warming to the idea of their involvement. Kerry said to involve other nations more in Iraqi rebuilding and security. Bush announced the new policy of pre-emption in June 2002. Kerry denounces threat of pre-emption, he said he would seek global consensus. In the last part of the debate, Kerry was really being harsh on Bush and I believe that Kerry was trying to get Bush in an uproar, but it's like Bush state, "I&apos...
