Conditions at the schools were not that bad in contrast to most people's perception of them, composed to the school that the famous Spartacus was forced to train. They were given a good diet; three meals a day normally consisting of high protein and fatty foods. They also had good medical attention for that era.
             Gladiators had the choice of various weapons and armours to train with including the war chain, net, trident, dagger and lasso. Each gladiator was allowed to fight in the armour and with the weapons that best suited him. They wore armour and used weaponry not native to Rome.
