Becomin a Diabetic

             I think it began two years ago. I had no idea what was happening to me. All I knew was that I had lost some weight, and people were really noticing it. I had realized that I would rather drink than eat, and I was always going to the bathroom. There was an unquenchable thirst that I was experiencing. I did not know what to do. It all stated with confusion because I did not know what was going on with my body.
             One day I went over to my best friend's house to hang out for awhile. I walked into her house, her mother had mistaken me for my twin sister. Normally this would not have been a bad thing, except I was about forty pounds heavier than my sister. This is when I realized that I had lost a considerable amount of weight. She started asking me a multitude of questions on what sort of symptoms I was having. When I told her, she immediately told me that I had to be a diabetic. At the time, I did not know what it meant to be a diabetic, but I feared that it was not a good thing. I realized that it meant that I was going to have to take shots. I did not want to believe her. I did not want to take shots. About a month later, I was taken to the emergency room at the hospital, and that is when I found out that I was a diabetic. I do not remember the first couple of days, but I do remember being scared and confused.
             Overflowing thoughts went through my mind when I was at the hospital. All I thought was "Why me? What did I do?" Later I just accepetd it. What choice did I really have? All of the results were not negative, there was a brighter side. I am still 20-25 pounds under what I used to weigh, and I am on a great diet and exercise program.
             Well, I can say that I have never gone through anything like before, and I hope that I will not have to do something like that again. I remember something one of the nurses told me,"One day it will be just getting up and brushing your teeth; you will just do it and not think abo...
