ury, Walsingham was one of the main shrines in Christendom. It amongst those of Rome, Jerusalem and St James of Compostella. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world went there.
             In 1061, Our Lady appeared to a woman called Richeldis de Faverches. Our Lady showed her the house where the annunciation took place and where the holy family lived. She was told build a similar house in Walsingham. She was told "All who are in any way distressed, or in need, let them seek me there in that little house you have made in Walsingham. To all that seek me there shall be given succour. And there at Walsingham in this little house shall be held in remembrance the great joy of salutation when St Gabriel told me I should through humanity become the mother of God's son." And ever since then pilgrims have been visiting the holy shrine to celebrate the annunciation amongst other times.
             A pilgrimage is a time for prayer out of you normal church community, it is a chance to meet new people as I have done in the past. Being in such a peaceful and holy place is probably the best feeling of my life! The atmosphere is just so brilliant because everyone is happy and joyful. Every time that I have been there, there weather has been wonderful most of the time which is sign that God is their with you. The prayerfulness of everyone is so strong, and his or her radiance of God's love just stands out a mile.
