             Even though boxing has become a new "American pastime", one must stop to ask themselves why famous household names like " Oscar De La Hoya" do it, especially since they are young. Human nature simply says that one does not intentionally put themselves in danger whereas boxers put themselves in danger everyday. Not only does it put them in physical harm but also psychological, and mental risks are involved in the "sport" . One might say they do it for the love of the game, others might say they do it for the money, while someone else might say they have no other way to support themselves and their families. Even though all these theories might be right, I believe the root of why boxing is enticing to young people is for the money.
             Young people want a quick way to get more money in a short period of time and it becomes more appealing to them when it involves something so revered as boxing. Most young people are and will remain ignorant to the amount of hard work and dedication it takes to make as much as Muhammad Ali made in his prime. They remain in a mindset of being young and often do not think into the future about how boxing could ruin their speech, movement, and memory. The only thing they are aware is the amount of money that is paid to the best. As it may be, some people genuinely love the game but if you were to take away all the glitz, glamour and especially the money, and put two people in a ring to fight, there would not be much enthusiasm.
