Since September 11, 2001 the United States has been in reaction mode. Immediate actions
were taken in response to the terrible actions of a few men. Airports were closed, and upon
reopening, there were strict new security measures put in place to try and identify copycat
actions, as well as continuing terrorist acts.
It is now a year later, and although the government believes that they are making the public feel safer by implementing a new security measure called CAPSS (Computer
Assisted Passenger Screening System) at all airports across America. The truth of the matter is that this type of Airline Profiling will cost the United States too much money and its integrity. Our integrity is something that has taken us 200+ years to generate and it is an important principal that other countries respect. The systems benefits, no matter to what degree of success it has, cannot possibly ever justify the loss of respect America has with other nations.
The CAPSS system is one of the three parts of the new screening system that Transportation Security Administration has implemented since 9/11.
