Slow down we are going too fast

Jane gasped in awe at the sight of the new Red Ferrari X634. Her eyes blinked, full of surprise and jealousy. "Mariah, is this really yours? Did your father really give you this for your eighteenth birthday?" Mariah turned to her friend and said with a smug, "Why yes. Unlike some fathers mine actually takes pride in pampering his one and only daughter. Loves her, cares for her and is always there for her".
Jane was hurt. How could Mariah, her best friend say such a thing? Jane's father was a drug addict serving time for drug trafficking and was awaiting his death sentence. Jane's family was a broken one. Her mother left her and her father when she was still a baby. Her father, distraught after his wife had left him turned to drugs as a source of happiness and joy.              Mariah, sensing that she had just hurt her best friend's feelings retorted, "Oh Jane! I am so sorry. I didn't mean to say that, but it's true isn't it? Your father has done nothing for you and yet, you still love him and write to him every single week. Yet, he never replies your letters! He doesn't deserve you, Jane. He doesn't deserve you at all! He does not care about you. He does not, that filthy old hag. He just wants your money. He threw his whole life away for nothing. It's no wonder your mother, your beautiful mother left him. I'm glad he's going to be hanged. Serves him right for not being there for you."
"Mariah stop saying such callous words. He might not be rich, and he might not love me, but he is still my father! Please stop saying such things Mariah, they hurt me so badly," Jane sobbed as she walked away from her friend, tears streaming down her pensive face. Mariah just stared at Jane; dumbfounded.
