             When Muhammad was forty years old when he was called to be a prophet. He had gone to spend the ninth month Ramadan meditating in his special place in the mountain Hira, where he had done the same for five years but that night was going to be very different.
             He saw a vision of the angel Gabriel (he didn¡t know this at the time), who had appeared to Mary and Joseph while he was meditating. Gabriel commanded him to read the words which had appeared from nowhere, Muhammad had never been taught to read but each time he told Gabriel this he felt a force squeezing him tightly. All of sudden he knew what to say and read out the first words of the Qu¡ran.
             Muhammad was very confused about what had happened to him. He went home and his wife¡s cousin (who was a Christian) told him that he had been chosen by God to be a prophet. Muhammad¡s family gave him a lot of support.
             He another vision and he now believed that God indeed had chosen him to be a prophet.
