             Initially, Talbot refered to his negatives as a positive process as a photogenic drawings. In 1841 after he discovered that the latent image could be chemically developed, them the exposure time dropped from 30 minutes to 30 seconds. Talbot then applied for a patent for an improved process which he called calotype.
             Calotypes (from the Greek word kalos, "beautiful") have also been refered to as Talbotypes (from Talbot's name) and their more generic name "Salt Prints".
