Why i love theatre

             Dan Simpson: Africa – out of sight, out of mind
             Basically, the author is stating that America's had no dealing or any solid type of foreign policy with Africa in times that it hasn't wanted something out of it. The author is mainly talking about how when it comes to aid, we're either all talk, or we just toss some money their way and think that with all the corruption going on still, they'll figure it out eventually. He doesn't think that we really care about Africa at all, they're just not important enough. He talks about how we could help put an end to a civil war going on in Sudan, some say since 1956, and how we could've helped stop a 22 year long rebellion which had cost an estimated 3,500 lives over the 22 year time period.
             Sad to say, I think he's right. There's so much we could do for those countries. And I'm sure they would appreciate our help ridding them of the corruption and hunger and such. We could stop so much murder and genocide going on there, but there's no political incentive other than doing the right thing, and that doesn't seem to be enough for anyone these days.
             I always thought it was interesting that we could know about all of these things happening in Africa, and not do anything about it, but there's one asshole in iraq, and we go after them for a two year (and running) long war, or "police action" where we're losing American lives not because we're fighting for them, it's because they don't want us there. I'm sure the Africans would feel differently. I also found this article somewhat disturbing. It seems I find something new about my country everyday that makes me love it less and less. Nothing can take away my national pride, but the decisions of our government and decision ...
