Media influence

As is often pointed out, media such as films, books and Internet is a two-edge
d weapon which can be used equally for good and evil.
On one hand, it serves as an effective way of information convey. Whether it be a good books, a good films, or a good Web, they are the demonstration of human intelligence. They can not only facilitate our life, but also provide us with great pleasure. Moreover, they can offer us scientific and moral teaching. For instance, a film named 'pay it forward' impresses me. In this film a little boy claims that people should love their family, their neighbors and their friends, and that people should 'pay it forward' rather than 'pay it back'. And eventually they lead to a better town. Although somewhat naive, I believe in the attitude that the film wants to convey: a chain reaction of goodness will lead to a better world.
On the other hand, media does have its dark side. People always complain that violent and pornography floods on media and has bad influence on our society, especially on the youth. Sociologists have pointed out that the increasing youth criminal is the result of those bad influences on media. Obviously, if not used properly, media could also be a toxicant on our society. Ask ourselves why did this happen? As far as I am concerned, who should be blame first are we ourselves. The existence of those banal contents is based on our despicable demand. Although regulations and standards are also needed to control these bad things, the most fundamental solution is to improve us both in knowledge and moral fields. In a word, it takes everyone's effort to control the bad use of media.
