Integrity, a moral characteristic that countless people promise endeavoring. Many of us have grown up with our parents nagging about having the proper morals and learning to keep them. Yet if you take a good glance, observing one individual at a time you will see a flaw. In modern society one will find an infinite amount of temptations: lying, cheating, and stealing are a few to name. I ask myself, "How can we uphold the integrity our parents grew us up with, in such a society where temptation flirts at every corner?"
             I can recall one day sitting in front of the television set during the late hours of the evening, the famous 20/20 show was investigating schools and businesses to separate the honest students and employees from corrupted ones. The staggering statistics elucidates all ambiguities of integrity found in schools and businesses. Every year, the statistics of those who steal, cheat, and lie increases by a large margin of four percent.
             Many people are curious how this could be. The answer is quite simple; people want the short cuts in life. If a student was taking a final exam – that the child's grade depended on – the child is more likely to cheat in order to get the "deserving" grade. Why would the child spend precious hours – where he can go to the mall, hang out with friends, watch television, play video games, or even go out on a date – studying when he can just look off his neighbor's paper during the exam and result with a grade he was seeking? This instance of cheating is very similar in adults as well. Some employees have been caught signing in at their work place two hours earlier than scheduled and signing out four hours after his regular work hour. Why do they do this? Could it be for the grade?
