Family Group Conferencing (FGC) deals with both child protection cases and youth justice cases. " Family group conferencing is based on restorative justice values such as respect, sensitivity, and the sharing of power, with a particular criminal justice emphasis on victim inclusion and offender accountability" (Roberts, 295). The RCMP has used this model in Canada since 1995. This program is mainly used for troubled youth with family or school problems. Youth are at a point of critical development.
