College is a place for learning and receiving your education. It is not a place for misbehaving or living life carelessly. Many students in high school want to go to college to get involved in just fraternities and sororities. They just want to have fun and party. Fraternities and sororities should no longer be allowed in college because it takes away the significance of learning.
With all the celebrations and activities that come with being in a fraternity or a sorority, there is little or no time to study. Therefore, any involvement in one of these associations could severely threaten your grade and your overall attitude of college education. These parties are not just regular parties they are very dangerous and out of control. Fights occur and people get hurt. There is plenty of drinking also involved in these parties which can lead to more danger afterwards, driving or riding home. These parties go on almost every night and weekend which is very disturbing to other students trying to study or sleep.
To get into one of these fraternities or sororities, you must go through what is called an online initiation. These initiations include very dangerous dares the pledges have to do while they're online. Some of these initiations can be very hazardous to ones health or life. Some initiations involve hazing which are very childish and inappropriate acts that pledges have to do to get them into the fraternity or sorority. Hazing can involve "taking wood" which is when one of the frat brother or soro sisters take a wooden paddle and strike you as hard as they can on your backside. It can also involve cleaning out toilets with a toothbrush, streaking or even stealing something very important to someone you don't even know; anything the pledge master says, has to happen or you wont "crossover". Many people have severely injured themselves and been killed during these initiations.
