I believe that all students can learn, but they can not learn until they feel respected and loved. I think the purposes of educators are to help children better themselves, give children the awareness they need, and advance self confidence for their future life. I believe that the role of the teacher should be to love each child unconditionally. Teachers should see the positive in every child. Teachers should challenge themselves to make sure the student is better off since they have been in their classroom. The student's role first and foremost is to learn. Also I believe students must learn to be respectful to their elders. If a child comes to school ready to learn and knows how to be respectful, then the day will go smoothly. The curriculum in the classroom should not be set. There should be a guide, but if one skill isn't learned one day then it should be practiced on until perfected. Kids should be able to have fun while they learn. Children have needs that need to be met at school and some of those needs are acceptance and encouraging reinforcements. Children should be able to feel accepted and loved for who they are, not what they can do. If you constantly focus on the positive side of a child instead of the negative, you will gain that respect and show the love needed to run a successful classroom. Qualities that I posses that will make me effective is unconditional love and understanding. I know that a student will not learn if they are thinking about problems from home and such. I can give a child the unconditional love needed for them to feel accepted by me which will in turn make the child more capable of learning. Students should be taught not only knowledge based curriculum, but life skills that will further them as individuals.
