The hangover has been around since the creation of alcohol. Since then people have created some of the most eccentric remedies thought possible. These range from drinking water, coffee, and Gatorade. To drinking children's Pedialite medicine, Taco Bell, drinking pickle juice, eating burnt toast, or my favorite; a little hair off the dog that bit us. But which ones work? Which ones are just basically placebos?
             In order to find which ones work the best we first must know what a hangover actually is. Apparently a hangover is when the body becomes dehydrated, and depleted of blood sugar, vitamins, and minerals.
             Many people say that drinking fruit juice in the morning is a sure cure. Fruit juice contains a form of sugar called fructose, which helps the body burn alcohol faster. This one sounds like it would work along with Gatorade, due to the fact that it is replenishing the body.
             Some of the other suggestions sound pretty far-fetched. Including the one where you are supposed to eat Taco Bell the morning after a long night of binge drinking. Who in their right mind would want to get up and go eat taco's in the morning. The way I see it, all that greasy fast food would do more harm to your stomach rather than give you some relief.
             Another odd way to get rid of a hangover is to drink children's Pedialite. Which is basically medicine to give relief for a child's stomach. I could understand how some people would think this might work, considering one of the major factor's of a hangover is the upset stomach. I suppose you would have to be pretty desperate to even consider drinking your kid's medicine.
             The best remedy for a hangover is to not drink, or at least try to drink in moderation. It sounds pretty easy, but sometimes when you are out partying on a Friday night with all of your friends, it tends to be pretty tough to limit your drinks.
